We’re a team of industry veterans with deep experience supporting advisors across diverse niches, practice sizes and investment philosophies.
Founder
Jason Thomas, Ph.D. | Chief Executive Officer
​Dr. Thomas is a recognized expert in risk management and investment management. He has been widely quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Advisor, and other industry publications and has appeared on CNBC.​
​
Prior to founding Portfolio Labs, Dr. Thomas served as Chief Investment Officer at AssetMark, a leading asset management platform with over $80 billion in assets under management (AUM). He was also CEO of Savos Investments, a subsidiary of AssetMark with over $7 billion in AUM.​​ Before joining AssetMark, Dr. Thomas was Chief Investment Officer of Aspiriant, a leading national wealth management firm. During his tenure at Aspiriant and its predecessor firms, assets under management grew from just over $1 billion to over $7 billion.​​ Before taking on his role as CIO of Aspiriant, Dr. Thomas was with Wilshire Associates and Goldman Sachs. Dr. Thomas began his career in economic research at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. ​

A Chartered Financial Analyst, Dr. Thomas earned an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Southern California. Prior to graduate school, Dr. Thomas completed both B.A. and M.A. degrees in Economics in just four years at the University of Southern California, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. ​
